The Nature of Bees

(addendum to my entry on improving grammar by violating the rules)

English spelling is double-plus ungood. That we have a national spelling bee to honor those who can decipher the peculiarities is a testament to necessary reform. History, tradition, origin and the like be damned. Language is about communication (that seems a little redundant), so every improvement is worthwhile. We have a mostly-phonetic language; why not go all the way? If not, we might as well switch to logograms.
