"Brainwashing your family to be irrationally paranoid (The GWB-administration method)"
Oh, wait, that's not the exact title of the book this spammer is pushing...
...There was no disaster or terror alert! It was a simple monthly test of the
warning system that had gone bad!But what if it had been real?
My fears were real. My frustrations were real. My feeling of ineptness was real.
Not again though.

A little reading for your lunch break:
This was brought up in Salon almost five months ago. I did not find out about it until today, which is not surprising given that the major media sources refused to touch the story. Cowards. This definitely could have effected the election. I already had plenty of reasons to not vote for Bush, but adding "cheater" and "liar" to the list would have knocked him off any other thinking person's.
New Google features that you may not be aware of:
Google Local - http://www.google.com/lochp
Google Maps - http://maps.google.com/
Google Weather : Understands zip codes ("weather 68508") and city names ("weather lincoln ne"), but not airport codes (though there is an airport conditions search feature: "lnk airport"). Not bad, but I prefer the NOAA's awesome ad-free forecast information. They also have pretty maps for darn near everything.

Google Desktop isn't new, but it's no longer beta. It's mighty handy. However, be aware that there are some security concerns regarding the caching of viewed web pages. Be sure to make sure that both web caching features are turned off when using computer that others may use
The scene for today's event is Highway 34, known to LNKolnites as "O" street. The time is approximately 11:00 hours. The restaurant is Village Inn. The order is Bacon and Eggs, scrambled, pancakes, boysenberry syrup. The magazine is The Week, torn in half to facilitate sharing.
The restaurant was robbed while Misty and I gorged. We were in a corner booth, unable to see or hear the action at the register. We didn't know something had happened until we went to pay our bill at roughly 11:20 and noticed multiple police officers milling about in the foyer. A masked man had entered 20 minutes earlier and asked for change. When the register was opened, he reached across the counter and grabbed the 20's, then took off out the door. A strange robbery method, and I'm sure the employee knew something was up immediately since it's not cold enough outside to warrant a face covering. Action in the sleepy town of LNK, and I was on the scene, and missed it.
Oh well. Far less exciting than finding "freshly dead fellas" and then making the news.
